Risk Grup – Amazonia Project 2010
The Risk Group acts in the domain of fieldsketching. Within the spirit of an art residency and counting with an experienced and multidisciplinary team, the Amazonia Project 2010 brought an interpersonal dynamic to drawing – a traditionally solitary activity. The different ways of seeing and modes of approach, its confrontation and contamination, offered as a final result a multiple reality from which the natural models reveled themselves in the marks produced by each author throughout the pages of each field sketchbook. This gathering of different marks [risks] took place in loco, responding to the fauna, flora, natural objects and landscape among a selection of natural spaces and protected areas, added by sound, photographic and video registers, which, when published, testified its valuable contribution to the promotion of this natural patrimony. Drawing – particularly related to natural history – constituted itself as the common denominator among this group which gathered collaborators and old students of Pedro Salgado, the founder and coordinator of the group. Scientific drawing was therefore the common branch between people who worked in arts, sciences, and/or teaching. The Risk Group also counts with different invited collaborators for each of the expedition that it promotes.
