Juliet Macdonald

Juliet MacDonald is a researcher at Leeds Metropolitan University. The PhD program that she has been conducting is now reaching its conclusion and involves an investigation into drawing as a form of knowledge concerning the body. Her web-based thesis will be on-line in early 2009. Juliet’s research methodology has been centered on her own manual/visual drawing practice, and integrated with note-making, reading and writing practices. In the last two years she has made the outcomes of her research project more public. In 2007, she participated in two group exhibitions: Delineate at The Crossley Gallery, Dean Clough (Halifax, UK) and Odoo/Current at the Genghis Art Gallery (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia). Juliet also had a solo exhibition in 2007: Drawn Over at the Alsager Arts Centre Gallery (Alsager, UK). Juliet contributed to the edition on ‘drawing and narrative’ on the online journal ‘Tracey, Contemporary Drawing Research’ with an interactive website which was part of an investigation into the hand as a subject, object or instrument of drawing (http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/ac/tracey/narr/index.html). Juliet is currently employed as a part-time Lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University, assisting art and design students in the use of Apple Mac computers and software for image editing, graphic design, video editing and animation.
